Helpful Info

Accessibility

Welcome, we are thrilled that you are coming to Big Church Festival and look forward to meeting you!

We’re committed to making the festival as accessible as possible, and we’ll do everything we can to support you. If you’d like to stay in the Accessible Campsite, need any additional assistance or have any questions, please read the information below carefully and get in touch with us.

Big Church Festival takes place at Wiston Estate, a beautiful greenfield site in the rolling hills of West Sussex.

While this setting makes for a special experience, the natural landscape can present some challenges, so we’ve put measures in place to help make your time with us safe, comfortable and enjoyable.

You can reach Mary at: access@bigchurchfestival.com

Event Mobility

We work closely with Event Mobility who provide electric scooters and manual wheelchairs for hire.

If you have limited mobility, experience fatigue, or have a disability, we highly recommend booking a scooter or wheelchair in advance.

Details on how to book will be shared closer to the event. Please note that bookings cannot be made on site at the festival.

Accessible Campsite

The Accessible Campsite is designed for guests with additional support requirements.

It’s a friendly and supportive space located close to the main arena and parking, and is suitable for tents, campervans and caravans.

Facilities include:

  • Accessible toilets, including a RevoLOOtion  (formerly Mobiloo) Changing Places unit with staff
  • Accessible showers
  • Charging points for medical equipment, electric wheelchairs and scooters
  • A pick-up point for the Access Bus
  • On-site support from volunteers

If you’d like to stay in the Accessible Campsite, please select the Accessible Campsite ticket option when booking. If you’ve already booked and need to switch to the Accessible Campsite, email us at: access@bigchurchfestival.com.

We know some guests will be accompanied by family, friends or carers. To help us ensure there’s enough space for everyone who needs it, we ask that no more than 9 people camp with you, including children. If you’re part of a larger group where multiple people have access needs, please contact us in advance.

Electrical Hook-Ups

How to Add An Electrical Hook-Up to Your Accessible Campsite Booking

  1. If you need electricity to power medical equipment, hoists or feeding devices, please book an accessible electrical hook-up through our website.
  2. Once booked, you’ll receive an email with next steps. You’ll need to respond with brief information about your medical need (e.g. for breathing apparatus).
  3. If you’ve already purchased your tickets and need to add a hook-up, please email info@bigchurchfestival.com.

Please be aware that power is supplied by generators. While we do our best to ensure continuous power, occasional outages can happen. We recommend planning for this, especially if bringing temperature-sensitive medication, which you do at your own risk.

Assistance Dogs

We warmly welcome assistance dogs to Big Church Festival.

If you will be bringing an Assistance Dog we recommend you email access@bigchurchfestival.com who can provide you with all details of toileting areas and other useful information.

The only animals allowed on site are fully trained Assistance Dogs. Therefore, we do ask that your dog wears a harness or lead that identifies it as an assistance dog and bring proof with you that your dog has been provided by a member of Assistance Dogs UK.

Deaf & Hard of Hearing

All artists and acts on our main stage are BSL interpreted.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing then we would encourage you to contact us directly, so we are able to give you the best possible support and answer any questions you may have before the festival. Please email access@bigchurchfestival.com.

First Aid & Medications

If you have a medical emergency then the First Aid team is on hand and happy to help.

However, In order to reduce the chances of being unwell, please ensure you bring all your regular medications to the site with you, along with an assistant or family member trained in administering them if needed.

Regrettably, it is not yet possible for BCF to safely and securely store medications for you. Should you need to refrigerate your medication, we recommend that you seek advice from your G.P.

Getting Around

We have special access routes to all main venues and essential services, but most of the site is grass.

If it rains then the grass can become slippery or muddy. We would recommend that if you have mobility issues you consider either renting an electric scooter/wheelchair from our provider Event Mobility or bringing your own with you.

Accessible Parking

To make things as easy as possible for both Big Church campers and day visitors, we have two locations for Accessible Parking.

If you are camping, Accessible Parking is next to the Accessible Campsite and you will be sent all the details with your arrival information.

If you are visiting for the day, or staying offsite, Accessible Parking is located by the Ticket Gate. If you need to park in this area please contact access@bigchurchfestival.com.

Personal Assistants

If you have a Personal Assistant or Carer attending to support you, please purchase a Personal Assistant ticket in advance through our website ticketing page.

When in the booking process, you will need to select your Personal Assistant ticket along with your own full-price ticket. After you have paid for your order, you have 14 days to send your supporting documentation to info@bigchurchfestival.com.

Once your documentation has been checked a Personal Assistant e-ticket will be emailed to you, then you are both good to go. Supporting documentation that we accept includes Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Blue Badge, or relevant medical documentation to support an injury such as a doctor’s note.

Priority Lane

We understand that queuing can be difficult.

To make your arrival on-site easier, we have a priority lane for Access users, which can be used by you and your Personal Assistant/Carer.

Toilets

We have accessible toilets at every toilet block around the site, which will be clearly marked.

Viewing Platform

We have a raised Viewing Platform in the Main Stage arena, right in front of the sound desk.

It can be accessed via a pathway and has charging points for wheelchairs. Please note that as these charging points are outdoors, they can be impacted by damp conditions.

We have electrical hook-ups available for the weekend for CARAVANS/MOTORHOMES/CAMPERVANS ONLY. The cost is £75 per caravan/motorhome/campervan. This gives you power from Thursday 21st August at 12 noon - Monday 25th August at 12 noon. You will need at least 10m of 16amp cable to reach the nearest power source.  Electrical hook-up pitches are limited and will need to purchased through our website here in advance when booking your caravan ticket. Please note that you will not be able to add an electrical hook-up to your booking at a later date. When requesting power please be aware that the site is powered by generators, it could go off at any point so we can not guarantee it on permanently during the festival. Should a generator power off one of our engineers will be working to get it on again as soon as possible. The cost for the electrical hook-up does not include a caravan/campervan ticket, you will need to purchase this separately on our website. ACCESSIBLE CAMPSITE ELECTRICAL HOOK-UPS We understand that many users of the Accessible Campsite need electricity to power medical equipment, hoists and items such as specialist feeding apparatus. While we do our best to provide an uninterrupted power supply, it is important to note that the power is provided by generators and there is always the possibility that it may go off for a period of time. Please be aware of this and plan accordingly, especially if you are bringing temperature sensitive medications, which you do at your own risk. In order to book your accessible electrical hook-up you will need to:
  1. Purchase your tickets on our website along with the electrical hook-up
  2. You will be emailed with instructions on what to do next, please reply to the email or email us directly at info@bigchurchfestival.com with information on why you require it, such as for breathing apparatus
If you have already purchased your camping tickets, please email info@bigchurchfestival.com for further assistance.

To make things as easy as possible for both Big Church campers and day visitors, we have two locations for Accessible Parking. If you are just visiting for the day, or are staying offsite, Accessible Parking is located by the Ticket Gate. If you need to park in this area please contact access@bigchurchfestival.com.

If the full price ticket buyer can prove by supplying documentation, that they are gaining support through one of the follow benefits, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Blue Badge or they have relevant medical documentation to support an injury such as a doctor’s note, then they are entitled to book one Personal Assistant ticket along with their own ticket. Yes you are welcome to bring your assistance dog to assist someone on site. In order to do this we will need you to write to us by emailing access@bigchurchfestival.com to confirm which organisation has provided it to you.
We will need you to ensure it wears a harness or lead that says 'assistance dog' on it at all times on site.

We appreciate that some campers may need additional oxygen to support their breathing. We are able to support this, but due to the highly flammable nature of oxygen this needs to be done on the Accessible Campsite, so that we can carefully manage the safety of everyone. Please contact access@bigchurchfestival.com to let her know your requirements and make suitable arrangements.
